VAR Agreement with Echelon

Ubitronix is entering into a partnership with Echelon to set up a comprehensive energy management system.

Austria, March 26, 2006. Ubitronix and Echelon signed a Value Added Reseller Agreement in March 2006 to establish a partnership for the development of a comprehensive energy management system.

By enlarging the functional scope of Echelon’s Networked Energy Services (NES) System, ubitronix offers more than the classic Automated Meter Management (AMM) for electricity, gas, water and heat metering. New functions also cover the areas of load management, power supply quality monitoring, street lighting and home/building management via an integrated system solution. Consumption data can, e.g., be analyzed globally from various points of view, and load management makes it possible to actively react to users’ needs. Such an integrative approach can in fact be seen as Unified Intelligent Energy Management (Unified IEM), an approach which will become ever more essential when we take into account the future role of energy efficiency.

ubitronix regards itself as a turnkey provider that also offers custom software and hardware solutions beyond the complete IT and metering infrastructure, including planning, training, commissioning and maintenance. „Our Unified IEM Suite comprises a broad variety of functions, which offer a totally new quality, especially in customer integration,” said Dr. Christoph Schaffer, GM of ubitronix. “Today, solutions in the area of energy management are not only expected to suffice the utilities’ requirements. Also consumption data transparency and new services for end users are absolutely necessary features of state-of-the-art system solutions. We are absolutely willing to face these challenges.”

ubitronix will be Echelon’s first VAR partner that will also soon offer NES-compatible system components which can smoothly be integrated into the NES infrastructure. One example is ubitronix’ Load Management Module with comprehensive calendar functions (e.g. astronomical calendar) and individualized switching commands, which will supersede the conventional ripple control receiver. A device for radio-based meter reading of water, gas and heat meters is in the planning stage and will be available for delivery already in 2007.
